On the non-commercial property side of our business, Lodges of Lapland can design whatever property you desire. Whether you want a small house for relatives or guests to stay in, a holiday home, a larger family home or a house of grand design, Lodges of Lapland is able to help. Most log homes constructions have an insulation value that is 25-50% higher than standard conventional constructions.
Wood is comprised of tiny air pockets which help resist the flow of heat. R-value is the measurement of insulation performance of various materials' -value when tested is based on the resistance to heat transfer. Logs do not have an R-value since they do not resist the transfer of heat.

Our solid log buildings are all pre-manufactured by IkiHirsi in Finland and, upon delivery, are ready to be built by our skilled professionals.

Thermal mass means the ability of a substance to store heat and radiate the heat back through the path of least resistance, which is towards the inside during the winter and towards the outside during the summer.
